Münchner Arbeit gemeinnützige GmbH is the city’s subsidiary company for employment and qualification. As a part of Make it in Munich, Münchner Arbeit offers free pre-arrival online counseling and informative seminars – all to equip you with the knowledge you need for a smooth transition.

We understand the common challenges newcomers might face:

  • Long and confusing transition periods
  • Limited free support services available prior to the arrival in Munich
  • Lack of a clear integration path and official information

 

This is how we help:

  • One-on-one and group consultations: As chosen participants, you will receive personalized guidance in multiple languages – even before you arrive!

The “Münchner Volkshochschule” (MVHS) offers courses from A1 to C1 – to improve your German language skills before you arrive in Munich. 
Learning German is a crucial step in preparing for life in this vibrant city. German language skills will help you integrate into the workforce, engage in social activities and build networks. MVHS, Germany’s largest language school, is here to help you every step of the way.
At the Münchner Volkshochschule, we offer a variety of courses tailored to different skill levels: from complete beginners to advanced learners. 

If you already have some knowledge of German, it’s important to assess your current level – so that our colleagues can place you in the appropriate course.

  • Support throughout the course: Receive individual and group counseling to ensure your learning success. MVHS provides consultation services in multiple languages – to help you understand the course offerings and choose the best fit for you. 

During the consultation, you can discuss your learning goals, previous experiences with the German language, and any specific areas you would like to focus on. This individual advice helps ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience.

  • VHS learning portal: The VHS Lernportal provides a fantastic opportunity to learn German independently! With courses ranging from beginner (A1) to intermediate (B2), you can find the perfect fit for your current skill level. 

These self-study courses allow you the flexibility to learn on your own schedule. 

Whether you prefer short daily sessions or intensive weekend study, you can tailor your learning journey to suit your needs.
The most unique aspect of VHS Lernportal is the inclusion of an online tutor. This tutor goes beyond basic grading. They provide feedback on your assignments – and offer advice to help you improve.
